Diabetes Insipidus is a condition in which kidneys of the body become incapable of conserving water. There are several forms of diabetes insipidus and central Diabetes Insipidus is one among them. In the human body, antidiuretic hormone (ADH) known as vasopressin is responsible for conserving the amount of water in the body. The hormone is produced in a brain’s region known as hypothalamus. Central Diabetes Insipidus is mainly results from deficiency of ADH hormone in the body. Neurogenic Diabetes Insipidus and neurohypophyseal diabetes insipidus are alternative names of the condition.

The disorder occurs due to lack of production of vasopressin in the brain of the human body. The vasopressin performs an important function of increasing the volume of the blood and decreasing the volume of urine produced. Therefore, when the body becomes deficient in it, persons face problem of excess urination which eventually leads to dehydration.
