The diabetic patients feel their mouth drying frequently and very quickly due to reduction in saliva formation. This condition enhances especially during night.
Frequent urination
A diabetic patient has to urinate more frequently than a regular person and even has to wake up 3 to 4 times during night to urinate.
Cravings for sugar
A diabetic patient craves for sweets and sugary things and almost all the time wants to eat sweetened food.
Weight loss
The metabolism of a diabetic patient is hampered and instant weight loss is seen.
Precautions in diabetes
Exercise
Regular exercise is must to keep a diabetic person energetic and positive minded. Apart from this good amount of exercise also releases toxic substances from the body and allow free circulation of blood thereby enhancing health.
Protect from injuries
Everyone is prone to get injured once in a while. Minor injuries are not a cause of concern in people without diabetes. But a diabetic patient should cover his body and mostly his feet and legs while going out so that he does not get hurt. Smallest of injury in a diabetic patient takes days to cure and if left unattended can become a major threat in the form of gangrene.
Nutritional diet
A diabetic patient should have his meal at regular intervals and must eat at least 3 to 4 times a day to maintain insulin balance in the body. The palate should contain vegetables, proteins, carbohydrates, small amount of fat. Occasional eating of sweets is permitted as long as the sugar level is maintained. Raw salads and sprouted beans should be taken regularly to reduce the muscle wear and tear.
Medical tests
Diabetics should frequently check their blood sugar as advised by the doctors. The prescribed medicines should be taken regularly and the daily routine as suggested by your diabetic consultant should be followed religiously.
